These lakes are set in dramatic mountainous scenery, where you can enjoy the unusual flora and fauna of Croatia. The park became a UNESCO natural heritage site in 1979 due to its geological and ecological importance.

On your way to the National Park you will visit the open air museum of the Homeland War (1991-1995), where you can learn all about this tragic period of history. The tour then stops at Rastoke watermill village. This settlement was created on the junction of two rivers. Most of the watermills are no longer functioning, but there is one that can be visited that does still work. The final stop is the Plitvice Lakes National Park. At the park there will be chances to do some hiking, cross the largest lake by boat and also driver in a panoramic bus so that you can see the furthest corners of the enormous park.
